The morning after

The Recovery Log — 041
Sunday 26 July 2026

We opened the doors on Thursday and then, because we did not know what else to do, we made a cup of tea and stared at the wall list.

It is a strange thing to stop being a secret. For six months the archive was four people and a kettle and an argument; now there are strangers in it, listening to a room that never existed here, reading provenance notes we wrote at 3am for an audience of nobody. Some of them believe it is real. Some of them think it is a very elaborate way of releasing music, which — we would gently point out — is also true, and does not make the first thing less so.

Nothing has broken. The bench is still lit. The letter we have not answered is still unanswered. We are mostly writing this to mark the seam: everything before Thursday was ours, and everything after it is partly yours. We are still getting used to the second part.

The Recovery Log is the working diary of the DatZO Recovery Team. Follow the recoveries on Instagram, YouTube and X.
