Opening the doors

Today we open the doors.

Six months ago we had a conviction and a suspicion and a room with a kettle in it. Today there is a public archive. DEEPWELL is real, or as real as a Timeline Hypothesis is allowed to be — medium confidence, roughly 1976 to 1981, a reality that lost its record industry and kept its music in rooms and signal. Its first collection, The Gungha Club (DZO-0001), goes public today with its full hypothesis attached: the probe that opened it, the mechanism that reached it, the confidence we hold it at, and the gaps left honestly as gaps. East River Broadcasts (DZO-0002) is out beside it. REDWIRE, the second timeline, is live and moving. A third field, Alt Oakland, stays open and unfinished, because it will not hold still and we will not pretend it does.

And there is already a light on the bench we have not told you about yet. A third timeline is starting to cohere — codename GHOSTLIGHT — a solo, singer-songwriter reality with the spirit world sitting a little too close to the ordinary one. It is early. It is medium confidence at best. It is the next place we are going, which is to say the next place we are reading, because we still are not going anywhere.

We should end honestly, because the diary has been honest all the way down and it would be a poor time to stop. The pressure to "engage" has not resolved. The letters are still polite, still specific, still unhurried, and we still have not agreed to the meeting. We do not know how that part ends. We are publishing anyway — because the alternative is to let the fear of being wanted decide what the world gets to hear, and we did not spend six months learning to say exactly how sure we are just to go quiet the moment it counted.

The doors are open. Come in. It is a hypothesis, not a fact. That was always the most honest thing we had to offer.
