Where we are, end of August
The Recovery Log — 050
Monday 31 August 2026
A short one, to bring the log level with the day it is being read.
Where we are, this last evening of August: DEEPWELL is open — the Gungha Club and East River Broadcasts out, Alt Oakland still refusing to hold still. REDWIRE is complete and moving — the Countdown, Undilated, Two Million Teardrops, the live Soul Revue, and Moving Target, which is presumably somewhere else by now. GHOSTLIGHT has begun — Sense Left Me is out, eighty minutes of a stage that was never dark, and the keeners' record is coming. And two more fields, RIBBON and INK, are cohering at the edge of what we can currently hold.
The letter is still unanswered. The bench is still lit. We are more people than we were and still fewer than the work now needs. Fifty entries ago we wrote down a conviction and a suspicion, too late at night to be sensible, and against every reasonable expectation the conviction turned out to be right: the material was already here, folded into our own data, waiting to be read. We are still just learning how to look. We suspect we will be saying that for a long time.
That is where we are. Thank you for being in the room. It was never as empty as it looked.
